Teaching in orthopaedics is mainly focused on acquiring practical skills and knowledge in the field of orthopaedics. The teaching emphasizes the acquisition of basic skills in patient examination and case report preparation, including internship in an orthopaedic inpatient ward. As part of the orthopaedic internship, students have the opportunity to participate in surgical procedures as an active assistant in the operating room, allowing students the best opportunity and experience of operating in an orthopaedic operating room, including learning basic practical skills. Within the Plzeňská Street training centre, students can learn basic skills in placing simple sutures, the basics of suture knotting and there is an arthroscopic simulator where students can try out different arthroscopic techniques for joint treatment. Internships are supplemented by lectures that summarize key chapters in orthopaedics.

In the traumatology curriculum, emphasis is placed on acquiring basic knowledge in bone traumatology, diagnostic and treatment options for musculoskeletal injuries. During the internships, students have the opportunity to practice the basics of loading plaster bandages, have the opportunity to practice the basics of osteosynthesis on bone models, and can participate in the operation of outpatient clinics and operating rooms.

In accordance with the Dean's Provision No. 4/2022, the management of the department permits a maximum of 20 % absence from scheduled classes, justified by illness or other serious reasons, always only after consultation with the teacher
